"Jugmental Roti"
Digital Illustration
Inspired by the kitchens I have seen throughout my life, this piece is a response to the silent judgments tucked between rotis and rolled-out expectations. The shape of a roti, soft, hot, perfectly round, becomes a measure of a woman’s worth. Eyes watch as she kneads, rolls, and flips; they silently judge her.
This piece shows how something like feeding one's family - making rotis can become a site of pressure and patriarchal control. The use of decorative patterns reflects how patriarchy hides, wrapped in tradition, and masked by a woman’s care for the family. The eyes on the roti and the dough are the pressure of expectations on her. The woman’s hands move, but her mind is full:
"Will it puff?"
"Is it round enough?"
"Will they approve?"
"Am I good enough?"
No matter what has been achieved, inside the kitchen, you are still being watched and tested.

"Sanskaari Scale"
Digital Illustration
For women, something as personal as a haircut, hair colour, or texture often invites unsolicited judgment. The further her hair strays from societal norms, the louder the labels become.
-Long, oiled, neatly plaited hair — “good,” “put-together” girl
-Loose or curly hair — “wild,” “messy”
-Short hair — “bold,” “rebellious,” even “trouble”
-Coloured hair — “too modern,” “too much”
This piece maps how a deeply personal choice ends up being policed, leading to 'Hairarchy' a scale of sanskaar, modesty, and morality.

"Growing Old"

As I grow older, I begin to see my body change. I may not always like it, but I embrace the change.
